PREREQUISITES FOR THE FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE UKRAINIAN POPULATION OF THE UKRAINIAN FAR EASTERN REPUBLIC

Abstract

The article analyzes the formation of the Ukrainian population of Green Wedge, which is connected with the annexation of this territory to the Russian Empire and refers to the 60s of the XIX century, when the first individual Ukrainian families began to arrive here. Ukrainians came to the south-eastern regions of the region before – in the years of 1765-1785, members of the Haidamak movement (Koliyivshchyna), who were sent here by the tsarist government, ended up in Kamchatka. The resettlement of Ukrainian peasants to the Far East was part of the migration processes that took place at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries, almost all Ukrainian ethnic lands in Europe. People who came from European Ukraine mastered the Asian coast of the Pacific Ocean – Prymoria and Pryamuria. Characterizing the direction of the ethnic processes that took place among the Ukrainian population of the Far East at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries, it is necessary to single out two opposite trends, namely: one was gradual Russification, the other was the steady preservation of traditions and ethnic identity. At the same time, along with the high level of preservation of traditional Ukrainian material and spiritual culture, the rural areas of Prymoria and Pryamuria were also characterized by the widespread use of the Ukrainian language. The compactness of the settlement, moreover, mainly in rural areas, where life is more conservative, objectively contributed to the preservation of Ukrainian traditional culture in the Far East. The study and coverage of the issue of the state formation of the Ukrainian people of the last century is relevant against the background of the events that have taken place since 2014, namely: the annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the military invasion of Eastern Ukraine, as well as the full – scale military invasion on February 24, 2022 on a modern sovereign and independent, democratic, the social, legal state – Ukraine, which are examples of Russian expansionist ambitions and imperialist policies. One of the stages of state formation of the Ukrainian people is the formation of the Ukrainian Far Eastern Republic.
