Tendencies of development of parliamentarism in the context of modern globalization processes

Abstract

The article deals with certain features of the development of parliamentarism in the context of globalization processes. The processes of globalization cannot bypass any society in the world, at any stage of its historical dynamics. Of great importance is the level of geopolitical, geo-economic, as well as the geostrategic openness of society. Today, globalization is changing the whole modern world, national systems, strategies of economic, political and cultural development. These processes affect all spheres, creating not only the interdependence and standardization of the conditions and factors of development of individual countries, but also determine their ability to withstand globalization challenges and to integrate states into relevant global or regional structures. Globalization, as any phenomenon of objective reality, has both a positive and a negative understanding, whereby two main directions are formed - globalism and antiglobalism, which lay the theoretical and methodological foundations of the analysis of this phenomenon. The processes of globalization are so multifaceted, so only a small part of this issue is covered in this article. In particular, in the research we focus on the problems of democracy in transitional societies, since one of the trends of the present is harmonization of parliamentarism with the principles of democracy. In this article we also examines the current trends in the structural construction of parliaments, as well as the problem of preserving national ideology in the context of globalization. Today’s globalization challenges are pushing for intensive ways to improve national parliaments. Today, Ukraine’s national interests are directly related to European integration, so the experience of these countries should be used to improve the functioning of parliamentarism in Ukraine. Based on the analysis, we are drawn the relevant conclusions about possible ways to improve the functioning of the parliament and the existence of parliamentarism in Ukraine.
