Causes of professional deformation of police officers: socio-psychological aspect

The article considers the socio-psychological aspect of the causes of professional deformation of police offi cers. It’s noted that the professional deformation of a police offi cer is a signifi cant change in the individual and personal qualities of a specialist in the course of his professional activities. For reasons that are determined by the specifi cs of the activities of law enforcement agencies and cause professional deformation, the author includes: detailed legal regulation of activities; the existence of power over citizens; professional corporate identity; increased responsibility for the results of their activities; mental and physical overload; extreme activity; organizational reasons; necessity in the process of accomplishing service tasks to come into contact with offenders; lack of proper psychological support for the life of police offi cers.
